The Adherence of the Esoteric Order of the Elements by Indiana State University

Recent front page news from our local paper informed the Gentle Reader that Indiana State University's enrollment increased to a record number. While this increase would typically be accompanied by an increase in revenue, revenue fell, as there were significantly fewer out of state students. We also learned that the four year graduation rate was 28.7 percent and freshmen retention was 67.8 percent. The graduation rate for 21st Century Scholars 26.2 percent, therefore, the much lauded and coveted 21st Century Scholars have a lower graduation rate than the typical, and presumably, unexceptional student.
The Gentle Reader should not hold to the opinion that the purpose of Indiana State University is education, for then it would not be fulfilling its purpose. The most substantial contribution of Indiana State University is enticing unsuspecting individuals to the campus and, ultimately, to Terre Haute. While certain individuals have incredible fecundity, the city, as a whole, has always suffered from a low fertility rate, as confirmed by the descendants, or lack therefore, of our most distinguished families: the Crawfords, the Demings, the Gilberts, and the Fairbanks.
Indiana State University's other important function is to provide employment, notably for construction, demolition, and landscaping. Due to the original agreement with the state of Indiana, the motto of "Build it and they will come" has rarely applied to Indiana State University, rather, historically speaking, their motto has been "If we don't repair it and maintain it, the State must replace it."

We suggest that this a typical campus for a university, an archway greets campus visitors and passersby alike at Third Street and Cherry Street, a water fountain is located by the student union, and there is a modern gas fired power plant.
The archway, fountain, and power plant are not observable at once for the street level observer, as there are various buildings blocking the line of sight.
The following image includes the Courthouse. The power plant is offset to the north of the water/air line segment, while the Courthouse is offset to the south of the water/air line segment.
Although there is not a direct line of sight from the Courthouse to the fountain to the power plant, this does not disqualify our opinion that the placement of the arch, the fountain and the power plant were intentional.
"This place is terrible, ... this is heaven's gate."

appendix: our speculation
All of the dormitories [in yellow], except one building [in orange], are located between Fifth and Sixth Streets. The lone exception was constructed in the 1960s, so it only a matter of time before it is removed. The Science Building [in pink] is also dates from the 1960s, and is likely to be demolished.
We would also widen the walkway from the fountain to the entrance on Seventh Street. Should our vision of campus planning come to pass, Indiana State University would be a more open environment with three significant and attractive tree lined pathways [in red] spanning the campus.
Consistent with our proposal to create a walking campus, sections of Fourth Street, Fifth Street and north Seven Street will be closed [in green].
We are surprised that our three subjects are aligned, as the layout of Terre Haute is based on a grid. We will add the element that is associated with our three subjects.
The exoteric order of the elements is followed: fire to water to air. However, earth is absent from the Indiana State University campus. We must conclude that it has yet to be built, presumably beyond the power plant, so as to conform to the elemental order, or that our efforts have not revealed an Occult inspired Campus Master Plan on , but rather an arbitrary or random placement of an arch, fountain, and power plant.
