Terrible Truths
Potential Apprentice Jeffrey
February 4, 2017
Potential Apprentice Jeffery, of his own free will, is desirous of studying under a Master of the Occult Arts and Sciences. The following is his initial effort to penetrate the obscurity of the Occult, generally, and Yours Truly, specifically.
Master has repeatedly refused my frequent and sincere requests to divulge Occult truths. Either Master does not possess any Occult wisdom or insight, with the implication that he is a charlatan, or he refuses to relate this truth, for at least one reason, and possibly, several reasons. Therefore, this Eager Apprentice will speculate that Master is, in fact, not a fraud and attempt to discover the reason, or reasons, for his steadfast reticence.
If Master is a fraud, then he is a very convincing fraud, if only due to his website with over seven hundred pages covering various topics. Of course, not all pages are Occult related, some are humorous, others are political, and many are philologically oriented. We regret to inform the Gentle Reader that we have been unable to discover what connections, if any, exist between the Occult and the origins and the nature of words.
Alternately, if Master were an imposter, we would expect him to offer arcane wisdom of the ages, for a substantial price. Yet, to the best of my knowledge, he does not pursue this avenue of supplementing his, by all accounts, meagre income. Either he is unaware of any potential financial benefits, or he is honest and as forthwith as he believes he can be with others who are not Occult orientated. It seems Occult truth, like love, is beyond filthy lucre. Until evidence and reason can demonstrate otherwise, we will assume Master is on the level, regarding the Occult. We may suggest that people who pay for “Occult” services are only spending money to hear pleasant stories and hopeful outcomes, of course, as a potential Apprentice, our opinion has little merit, and is, with little doubt, incorrect. In conclusion to this part, Master is not a reincarnation of Simon Magus.
On occasion, Master has been known to state that certain people, notably Cancer Geminis, are not an interruption of his work, but the purpose of his work. While I remain uncertain to the exact meaning of Master’s words, I, as a Cancer Gemini, remain hopeful.
Master frequently contrasts opinions with knowledge. We will apply this repetition as an indication, or hint, on how we will proceed. Of course, Master also frequently mentions the flat earth and we are uncertain if this is a ploy to ascertain the listener’s ability to reasoning, or if this, too, is a hint at an Occult truth.
In passing, Master did suggest that these truths, (he did not describe them as Occult truths), are better not discovered by people, as these truths not only destroy one’s previous opinions, and could, but not always, lead to unintended and unforeseen consequences. After all, no one wakes up one day and decides to behave as a dog, live in a barrel, and masturbate in public.
I inquired of Master if the truth was related to religion, and he responded that it can be related to religion, but it can be independent of religious thought and practices. This insight is of little assistance, as the topic of religion and religious practices are frequently found on his website. Yet, we know Master contrasts the Orthodox Church's’ teaching on the soul with the various western church’s dogmatic insistence on the existence of an immortal soul. However, we can not understand how the mortal soul can be perceived as detrimental, after all, the Orthodox Church not only believes in the resurrection of the body, but also teaches theosis. The Orthodox position eliminates the potential for reincarnation, or the transmigration of souls. Therefore, we must conclude that the lack of an immortal soul is not somehow associated with, or related to, Occult truth.
If we suppose the flat earth is a hint about an Occult truth, then we should continue in a deliberate and systematic manner. If we assume the flat earth is the correct understanding of our world, complete with a stellar dome, then we must ask what, if any, conclusions we can surmise from these assumptions. Unfortunately, we can not know much; we can only speculate, and any speculation would be a disservice to the Gentle Reader, and to the Gentle Researcher who is searching for Occult truth.
Science, by its nature, is open to revision as new discoveries are published, better theories are introduced, and additional facts come into being. We suggest that Occult truth is not open to revision and, if our suggestion is accurate, Occult truth must be a simple, and not convoluted, concept or concepts. We can only speculate that Occult truths are readily available to all men, but not all who have eyes see, or interpret correctly. We must conclude that Occult truths are known when the researcher discovers them, and Occult truths may, or may not, be communicated audibly. As Master is fond of saying, “The good stuff is never written down”, which I always understood as alluding to an oral tradition; now, however, this presumption is in doubt.
We suggest that the hints of Occult truths are recognized by fellow Occultists. If true, then Occultists must utilize a form of writing that only they can recognize and understand. However, it seems pointless to this aspiring Apprentice to only write to select individuals with the only purpose of being recognized as a fellow Occultist. We doubt that certain individuals, for centuries on end, would be motivated to write untold volumes with clues, hints, and allusions to Occult truths, unless there was a truth, and this truth can be uncovered, otherwise Occult writings would be synonymous with “killing time”. It seems that Occultists are unconcerned with reaching as many readers as possible, their targeted audience is very limited. We must conclude that Great Occultists either teach obscurely, or what they teach is obscure.

The Master is clear: what you have received freely, you are to give freely. We assume what is derived from considerable effort, intense study and proper reasoning, cannot be given. Therefore, from our experience conversing with Master, we suggest Master complies with the Master’s explicit statement, as he freely answers certain questions, yet, he also refuses to answer other questions. We presume the answered questions are of a general nature that can be easily found, if we were to search, while the unanswered questions must touch upon Occult truth or obscure topics that required considerable time and effort from Master.
We do not believe we are now significantly closer to Occult truth than when we began our excursion, considering the above topics. In fact, we may be further from the truth, as it would take effort to peruse and properly analyse all of Master's considerable work and we may “run in vain”, if our approach is not reasonable.
We conclude our initial work with a quote from R.E.M.:
