Dear Mrs. Wood

introduction
We are in agreement with the conventional wisdom of “You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression.” Before our first meeting with Apprentice RJ’s parents, we meticulously planned on possible scenarios and the exact greeting, the first impression, was paramount in our mind. Although Capricorns are enamoured with titles, Apprentice RJ assured us that addressing his father as “Mr. Wood” would be acceptable. Throughout our conversation, we repeatedly returned to this point, until Apprentice RJ forcefully insisted that we address his father as “Mr. Wood”, not by his military rank. We relented to Apprentice RJ’s request: “What good are advisors, if we ignore their advice?” We have since discovered that addressing officers according to their ranks by civilians is considered a minor faux pass. As we settled on using “Mr. Wood”, we reasoned that using the style of “Mrs. Wood” was appropriate. If Mrs. Wood had a separate title, such as doctor, then we would use it. As we noted: Capricorns are enamoured with titles.
If we enjoy our time at the luxurious Woodmore Manor, then it partially due to the hospitality, and partially due to our feeling comfortable in the setting. If we feel comfortable, then it because we know that nice homes. like decent children, and by extension, decent people, are not the products of chance.
When typical people imagine material comforts of the Woodmore Estate, they do not ask “How?” or “Why?” and they erroneously conclude that certain people are lucky; the fortunate recipients of random chance. As Machiavlelli observed, “I make my own luck.” We suggest that the Woods, too, have made their own luck. In conclusion to this part, we advocate the idea when effort, discipline, and sacrifice are applied over time, the “luckier” people become.
We do not thoughtlessly follow social conventions. In “Persecution and the Art of Writing”, Leo Strauss suggested that certain writers use common words, not as they are typically understood, but permeate them with meanings that the less persistent reader would not realize. We are genuinely fond of Mr. and Mrs. Wood, not only because they are Apprentice RJ’s parents. We admire Mr. and Mrs. Wood because that they are physical manifestations of the ideal. Of course, Mr. and Mrs. Wood are not the ideals of the philosopher, the philologist, or the Occultist, but of a certain goal from our youth. Therefore, when we use the titles “Mr. and Mrs.” for the Woods, we so with a different understanding than is warranted by the mere words themselves.
In conclusion, Capricorns are captivated by titles and when a Great Occultist, like Humpty Dumpty, “uses a word, it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less."

the request
Recently, Mrs. Wood shared a post with Yours Truly that included the following information:
Did you know you are not just ONE [capitalization in the original] zodiac sign? Like people, astrology has different layers of it:
Your sun sign is the sign everyone knows; but how do you figure out what your moon sign is? What about rising/ascendant↗? Where is your Mars placement? (etc...)
Mrs Wood added:
“I'm guessing you already know all this but thought I'd share anyway 😃”
It is evident that Apprentice RJ did not inform Mrs. Wood of his elevation to Apprentice to a Master of the Occult Arts and Sciences in April, 2017 [Vide].

Our reply:
Dear Mrs. Wood,
Thank you for sharing this to my wall.
If you have any additional comments, questions, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.

Sethlon
The appellation “Sethlon” is not self styled designation, but was bestowed on Yours Truly by certain members of the cohort we have identified as “The Highschoolers”.
[Disclosure: Mr. and Mrs. Wood have appropriated the term “Sethlon”, to the consternation of the Apprentices and to the amusement of Yours Truly.]
Mrs. Wood inquired why we were not “Friends” on a certain social medium. Our response:

Mrs. Wood inquired why we were not “Friends” on a certain social medium. Our response:
My Dearest Mrs. Wood,
Your recent inquiry has been brought to my attention.
To the extent that I feel comfortable by creating artificial distance by the seemingly excessive usage of conventional formalities, I equally distrust the artificial closeness of social media that may be erroneously understood by certain users of said media. Therefore, I am uncomfortable with the idea that our relationship could be defined by social media and, as a result, may be misunderstood by the liberal usage of “friend”.
In conclusion to this part, although our relationship commenced with a shared concern, I am confident that our current association is “one of mutual affection” and, consequently, has no need of external validation that, ultimately, is of questionable value.
If you have any additional questions, concerns, or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I remain,
Sethlon
Post Script- If you only meant why I haven’t send [sic] a friend request, then I guess I’d say that I didn’t think about it.
The incorrect verb tense is a scribal error, courtesy of Apprentice Denver.

Mrs. Wood replied:
so formal. I feel we are past formal 😂
Our response:
My persistent Mrs. Wood,
In Re: “I feel we are past formal.”
Yep.
If you have any additional questions, concerns, or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The inconstancy between being formal and the word "Yep." is left to the Gentle Reader to resolve.
In conclusion to this part, we acknowledge that Mrs. Wood feels that "we are past formal."

better late than never
The message we sent to Mrs. Wood on September 11:
“[Apprentice] RJ just "liked" my Tweet from his 21st birthday… “
Apprentice RJ's birthday is September 3.
Mrs. Wood responded:
Mrs. Wood responded:
“he [Apprentice RJ] said "I don't think Sethlon wished me a happy birthday" I said.."yes he did on Twitter," Hey, what do you expect from the boy.. You know him
We know Apprentice RJ very well, perhaps better than most people, as we created his birth chart in March, 2016 [Vide].
Our reply:
Our reply:
“LOL. Yeah, I was sorta upset [that Apprentice RJ did not respond to the Tweet], then [I] realized he had other things going on, then [I] forgot about it. So, I was surprised [that he responded].”
We presume the “other things going on” is having his first adult beverage with family and friends. As always in the Wonderful World of Occult Research™, presumptions are not certainties.
Mrs. Wood responded:
Mrs. Wood responded:
“And... This [Apprentice RJ thinking we did not offer birthday wishes and his feeling of being forgotten] goes along with what I have been telling you... You mean a lot to the kids.”
On several occasions, the persistent Mrs. Wood has insisted that Yours Truly "means a lot to the kids", otherwise said, the persistent Mrs. Wood is consistent.
“Maybe so, Mrs. Wood, maybe so.”
Oftentimes, we allow a premise to proceed without objection, so that we do not seem pedantic or petulant. Although we would relish knowing that we “mean a lot to the'' Highschoolers [cf. "swimming the lives of the Apprentices"], the means to discover the validity of this premise is, regrettably, beyond our ken. Yet, in the words of the Apostle, I have faith, hope, and charity.
"Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see."
Hebrews 11:1
I understand this as alluding to an abstract concept that will exist in the future as one imagines it, not the present reality.
Hope "that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it."
Romans 8:24-25
The Apostle states that what is seen is not hoped for. Hope is similar to faith.
"Let love be unfeigned [genuine]."
Romans 12:9
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love...
