A Brief Encounter With A Cancer Gemini

What else makes you feel regret?
That I did it again.
You did it again?
I burned down that pervert’s house!
That I did it again.
You did it again?
I burned down that pervert’s house!
a brief encounter with a cancer gemini
While we cannot relate to Donnie’s regret regarding arson, we do know the feeling of regret when we are the source of another’s mental discomfort. We know it almost immediately and cannot undo what we have done.
Although we rarely feel disturbed by our actions, there are times…
Yours Truly recently discovered that New York recognizes thirty one gender identifications. What is this so called “recognition”, but denial of Nature, mockery of human experience and questioning human reason?
The following conversation is an absurd application of some of the possibilities offered by the modern idea of gender proliferation.
Yours Truly: “I feel like a female and identify as a woman and I am transitioning to male. When my transition is done, do you know anyone who can be my girlfriend?”
Cancer Gemini: “Uh...uh…uh....”
At the beginning of my statements, we were standing at a comfortable distance for descendants of northern European speakers. However, each revealing of another “fact” was accompanied by another step further away from Yours Truly. By the time of my inquiry, he was standing at least six feet away.
Yours Truly: “Your behavior betrays your mind.”
Cancer Gemini: “Uh...uh...uh…”
In the interests of mercy, we will omit any further dialogue.
Yours Truly assumed that most of the confusion was his attempt to rationalize his knowledge that I am male, with my identifying as female, with my stating that I am transitioning to what he knew I was, to my desire to date the opposite gender. Without effort, I have reached the heights of Voltaire.
We may suggest such absurd statements, convoluted thinking, and strange goals were impossible in previous generations, however, in the modern age, it is not only possible, but seemingly expected.
He asked if I were going to write about this incident, and I replied that I don't relate everything, with the implication that not everything should be recorded for posterity. However, as he continued speaking, I understood how I could, and why I should, write an essay.
The most jarring aspect of his speaking was when he referred to himself as a “Cancer Gemini”. The Gentle Researcher knows why this statement of fact was found to be disturbing.
After some time, I again spoke with the Cancer Gemini and I learned that he thought my statements were part of a “joke”. It is a joke, but not as he understands it. The origins of this “joke” are external from, and previous to, Yours Truly.
I presume the nuances of mockery, irony, humor, and jocularity are lost on the Cancer Gemini for two reasons; his limited life experiences and his good humored nature.
If I could only find someone who has his exact genetic makeup, similar life experiences, but maladjusted, then I could compare and contrast their respective reactions.
Although the Gentle Reader may be confounded as to the reasons why I value the presence of, and interactions with, Cancer Geminis, the Gentle Researcher has no such reservations.
In conclusion, “history shows again and again how Nature points up the folly of man”.
