"Why, Mr. Anderson, why do they persist?"

Although we have read that Nature appoints three types or divisions of man, we propose that, perhaps, there are only two- the minority, one in a thousand or two in ten thousand- that do not want to tell others how to behave, while the remainder of humanity that, for various reasons, believe they should decree other’s behavior for reasons that are not yet clear. We will focus on the later and far more interesting, group.
“The Witch Doctor and the Dictator”
As Ayn Rand notes, the type of people who play these roles do not seek the rational, only obedience. Perhaps it is easier for the majority of people to be obedient than to reason, to rationalize. In America, in the Modern Age, we can not but recognize the influence of vocal Christians and their insistence that people should behave within prescribed acceptable limits. It is as though most Christians desired a career in psychology or therapy and, failing that vocation, have become amateur advisors to any and all, those who heed their advice and those who do not.
For those of us who listen to their nonsense [for how else can one’s life being based on feelings be described?] may recall Fred’s words about man being an interesting animal. How can we as a country progress, if the majority of people pass the majority of their waking hours complaining about other’s current and past behavior? We suspect this complaining is a symptom of the disease that is Modernism.
These vocal Modernists believe that they have the divine right to rule over their Christian, non Christian, and non conforming inferiors. Social media that equally welcomes all that contributors to this mentality, or is thinking relegated to a dark corner of the mind in the same proportion to the sensitivity of being offended is highlighted?
The overly sensitive Christian and Modern behavior- is there a difference? Those who are in the world, but not part of the world, in truth, only want to rule the world. It is as if the childhood image of a benevolent world ruling mouse has merged into Modern Christian eschatology... the other’s insane.
If Christians are applying the openness that is a hallmark of a certain vocal minority who have had recent legal success, then these Christian’s behavior needs to change, as the race without constraint to determine who is more open, more forthcoming, is a losing proposition for western civilization, generally, and this country, specifically.
Only sensitive Christians would say they are being persecuted when they are corrected concerning statements of fact, or are shown to hold a host of absurd ideas. Reasonable people have rational fears of a theocracy based on the irrational, where obedience is the touchstone of citizenhood, of being good. The rational mind has no need for obedience, only reason, and it does not need laws limiting a vehicle’s speed during inclement weather; only the unthinking minds need such laws and, if unthinking, will tend to ignore the law anyway. Is it easier to legislate all encompassing gun control or to individually convince citizens to act reasonably? I fear, Gentle Reader, that the answer is clear, all too, clear.
We recall a recent conversation with a certain Apprentice who admitted to believing in God. While this statement was not extraordinary, our inference was that without God, lawlessness would ensue, If we believed there were no God, would we steal? commit murder? No, of course not; not because it is evil or wrong as these concepts represent a failed morality that, although not unknown to us, is repugnant. It is abhorrent to our taste: irrational- where is the rationale for taking life? for taking what is another's property?
We understand the reason the witch doctors must have a god, as any deity or deities will be sufficient for their use, for if there were no revealed God, then they would lose their influence over people. But how? If morality does not proceed from revealed religion and from the spokesmen for that religion, then the fear is that people will either act irrationally or act rationally, instead of basing their actions on the feeling of fear; the fear of an avenging deity; fear of eternal physical torments. If rational, then witch doctor will lose control. Repugnant! If rational, then dictator will lose authority. Repugnant!
If the witch doctors and dictators of this world want obedience, then they should encourage obedience- encourage obedience to reason- obedience to acting rational- but we know the majority will not embrace rational obedience. How can they embrace reasoning when history shows again and again how Nature points up the folly of man?

Why Mr. Anderson, why do they persist in their desire for all things irrational?
Because they choose poorly.
Because they choose poorly.
