In “Acceptance: Part the Second”, we explained the reasons that led both to our understanding and to our acceptance of our failures. For a mind that values accuracy and exactness, that despises willful misrepresentation, we were forced, lest we be accurately described as hypocritical, to acknowledge reality, regardless of any personal discomfort we may experience. Yet, acceptance of reality does not abrogate our ability, nay our responsibility, to reason, or to reflect upon reality.
Although our acceptance of reality is accomplished, to ignore the absurdities associated with, and are the result of, our situation or predicament, would be both inappropriate and unwise.
We do not doubt that justice is the interest of the stronger, to the detriment of the weaker, nor do we doubt the power of the state, insofar as temporal matters are concerned. However, we are unable to mentally make the connection among the powers of the state, and the concept of justice, to Yours Truly's situation, specifically, and others, generally. We may say that the state, through fiat alone, is a type of justice, although judging by the poor results of stranger care as a whole, we would suggest that state fiat is more accurately described as a type of detriment.
The absurdity of the results is both prejudicial, a moral judgment has been made a priori, and discriminatory, the law is not applied equally to all citizens. What shall we say? That the state has consigned the overwhelming majority of citizens to normalcy, while degrading a minority? What could reasonably contribute to stress at twice the level observed in war veterans? Perhaps a lifetime consigned to uncertainty. Uncertainty regarding the past, specifically, ancestry and any familial history, and uncertainty regarding the future, specifically, involvements and encounters with individuals and their subsequent incredulity regarding what would otherwise be rightly considered fantasy, or a plot device for an international spy novel- one's parents, siblings, and ancestors are a state secret.
The acceptance of reality is not identical to either the acceptance of asinine machinations of state fiat or of state sponsored, and state endorsed, opinions, especially when one considers these far reaching opinions are based on a type of morality, but devoid of natural law.
We expressly state our concern that acceptance of reality may lead to our acceptance of the concept of eternal occurrence, and this may, in turn, lead to our acceptance of that most normal worldview, the lack of noble sentiments. Such is our not unreasonable fear.
We observe that over many years, our depression spurred our productivity and creativity. Yet, with the acknowledgement both of the impossibility of finding our brother and the inability to be successful, what shall we do? There is no reason to engage in further research, or to write, or compose, or paint, or seek siblings and relatives, that is, relatives as nature intended and, thereby, wholly beyond state fiat.
We are confronted with having no purpose, no goal, and, as we have stated on innumerable occasions, we, not being philosophers, lack the ability to create values. Therefore, we are faced with the inevitable result that our acceptance has inexorably brought us to nihilism. What shall we conclude?
Our decades long depression, and associated output, was life affirming, while our acceptance of reality is death affirming.
The Gentle Reader may recall a passage from the Republic: Philosophy affirms that appearance tyrannizes over truth, and is the lord of happiness.
The Gentle Researcher will conclude that as appearances are the source of happiness, then the nature of truth must be terrible.

How terrible is this place ...this is heaven’s gate.
