Finding a Candidate
1
As a philosopher, we are constantly on the lookout for promising apprentices.
One may think that we do this by offering IQ tests and going from there. If our resources were extensive, we would use such a method. However, we use a twofold approach that does not directly measure intelligence, per se.
We will chat up almost anyone. If all they can talk about is video games, movies, and who is dating who, then we will move on, since they are beyond any assistance from philosophy.
When, we determine that a person is aware, we proceed to determine their reasoning skills. No doubt, awareness, and reasoning are effects of a degree of intelligence, but I will take an aspiring occultist, we mean philosopher, that shows the eagerness to learn, explore and synthesize far-flung concepts.
At the most recent philosopher convention, it was determined that we should “hang out” at specified locations to find aspiring youths and we were given the task of “hanging out” at fast food restaurants for finding appropriate candidates.
As a Libra rising, people often approach us, so making contact is not an obstacle to my agenda. We let the candidate talk about himself to understand if he is an acceptable apprentice. Of course, they will never know that they are being interviewed for a position to what some people have described as “the greatest occultist of the twenty first century.”
The tour of Highland Lawn Cemetery is often "the make or break" of a candidate. If they are eager and wander ahead while we are giving historical trivia of our greatest citizens, they are suitable for philosophy.
As of May, 2012, only two have made the tour.
Many intriguing candidates are like the seeds of the Parable of the Sower and the Seeds, as they hear the truth, but it does not leave a lasting impression and are snatched by Satan, never to return to the fertile soil that is philosophy.
