Boeing has grounded all of their new super airplanes, the 787, because of a problem with a lithium battery. The 787 which once was the hope of Boeing's return to dominance has become a public relations problem. The public relations nightmare belongs to Carnival cruise that had no power for several days and was towed to Mobile, Alabama.

“This is looking more and more like a modern-day depression. After all, last month alone, 85,000 Americans signed on for Social Security disability cheques, which exceeded the 80,000 net new jobs that were created: and a record 46 million Americans or 14.8 percent of the population (also a record) are in the Food Stamp program (participation averaged 7.9 percent from 1970 to 2000, by way of contrast). … Increasingly, the U.S. is following in the footsteps of Europe of becoming a nation of dependents.”" No comment needed. The Obama administration was urged on Monday to stop diverting grain to gas amid warnings of an "imminent food crisis" caused by America's drought. When converting to one form of energy to another form, there is ALWAYS a net loss of energy. The idea that people want 2 gallons of ethanol instead of 3 gallons of gasoline has always been beyond my understanding. |
